The Role of Transportation in Recovery
Rise Up Sanctuary—also known as medical respite—helps shorten hospital stays and provides a safe place for unhoused individuals to heal while working toward permanent housing. One key factor that can determine a patient’s success in recovery is transportation.
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) ensures patients can attend vital appointments such as follow-up visits, therapy sessions, or dialysis treatments. Without it, many people are unable to access the care they need—each year, millions of Medicaid recipients miss or postpone treatment simply because they lack a ride.
At our Rise Up Sanctuary facility, transportation is an essential part of the recovery process. We coordinate rides not only for medical visits but also for housing-related appointments, helping our clients move one step closer to stable housing and independence.
